This blog post is coming to you in sponsorship with Kenneth Cole and Stylinity, where I am introducing Kenneth Cole’s new heel collection, called Riley.
I have a love / hate relationship with stilettos: I think they look so sexy and flattering, which makes me feel powerful when I wear them...but they hurt my feet after twenty minutes. I feel like most heels are designed to look good while standing, but they are not designed to feel good, if you're walking for more than a few minutes.
Kenneth Cole's new Riley Collection was designed with comfort in mind, and it uses their new technology, called 'The Rebound System.' This sleek system works in sync with your feet, and includes a rubber injected sole for sneaker-like flexibility, and memory foam pods everywhere (2mm in the ball area, 3mm in the window cut area, 1mm in the insole board, 3mm across the heel...) for added comfort.
The heels I'm styling here are the Riley 85 Patent Leather Slingbacks, which is a simple, 3 inch heel, with an adjustable slingback for additional support. (If you are in-between sizes, I suggest going up. I am a size 7.5-8.0, and I am wearing a size 8.0).
If the slingback isn't your style, you can also shop the Riley heel in a classic 4 inch pump, a 3 inch pump, a 2 inch kitten heel, and an assortment of stiletto boots (for those of you who are far more daring than myself).
These are one of the few stilettos that I've liked— they look beautiful on, and they don't make my feet hurt after an hour. Kenneth Cole designed the Riley Heel for walking around a big city, so whether you're styling them for work or play, these will stay on your feet.
While these would look beautiful in a professional setting (with a pantsuit, or a skirt and blazer), my favorite way to style a stiletto is with something significantly more casual. Here, I'm styling my slingbacks with a vintage pair of 505 Levis, and an off-the-shoulder knit from H&M, which you can find here. The cross-body bag is from a company called Melie Bianco, and you can find it here.
I have always appreciated the combination of loose denim and skinny heels- I love the juxtaposition between casual and professional, masculine and feminine. I decided to style these for a museum date with a friend, and I had a lovely time walking through the galleries in them. They made me feel powerful and sexy, without making me feel overdressed.
If you're in the market for a new, classic pair of heels, I would highly recommend checking out the Riley Collection. A classic pair of heels is like a little black dress: every woman needs one in her closet.
