As some of you know, whenever I really like an outfit, I feel the need to dedicate a blog post to it. The turtleneck / knit sweater + A-line skirt formula is a long time favorite of mine, but I still thought I'd take the time to highlight this look.
Every time I post a look with this embroidered skirt, I get compliments and questions. Unfortunately, this is from last year's Topshop, so I cannot find the skirt anywhere, but I've done my best to find similar pieces, so that you can recreate this comfortable ensemble.
I think my personal love affair with A-line skirts comes from my height. I'm only 5'3", so I embrace anything that gives my height a bit of flattery, and I find that A-line skirts make my legs appear longer. With a super cozy knit on top, this is the perfect autumn/winter ensemble. It was really warm (for Minnesota) the day I shot this look, but it'd be just as easy to add a long line coat on top for those colder days. Some comfortable shoes (these loafers are from Topshop) and some sheer tights, and we're set to go.
**Life hack: If you know you're going to be wearing tights (especially sheer tights), carry clear nail polish with you. Most holes and runs start in the crotch or feet, so in the case of (inevitable) runs, clear nail polish can be used to stop the run in its tracks, so your legs don't go from chic to trashy Halloween costume!**
